TRUMANSBURG – For the 21st year, area businesses, organizations and community members are coming together to present Trumansburg WinterFest.
Full of winter activities for kids, adults and families, WinterFest is a true collaboration of the greater Trumansburg community. This year the celebration will take place from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, December 3; events will be set up along Main Street – which will be closed to vehicles – in the village.
Featured performances this year will include Hilby, the skinny German juggling boy, and music from the Fall Creek Brass Band and IC Voicestream. Hilby will begin at 4:15 p.m.; IC Voicestream takes the stage at 5:15 p.m. and the Fall Creek Brass Band follow at 6 p.m.
Throughout the evening on Main Street there will be carriage rides, magician Mike Stanley will be performing, food and craft vendors will be offering their wares, and there will be games for children. Santa will arrive at 5 p.m.; the tree lighting and community carol will take place following his arrival. A holiday-themed sculpture created and installed by the Trumansburg High School AP Studio Art class also will be on display.
In addition to the festivities on Main Street, here will be free tastings of wine and spirits at local businesses during WinterFest: Offerings from Wagner and Hosmer wineries will be at Atlas Bowl, Keuka Spring Vineyards will be at Felicia’s HiVE 45, Sheldrake Point will be at Trumansburg Liquor Store and Myers Distillery will be at Little Venice.
Taking place now through the event is a raffle, with chances to win more than 40 prizes, including gift certificates to area restaurants, free bowling from Atlas Bowl, GrassRoots tickets, a pair of tickets to a Syracuse basketball game, tickets to a Cornell Hockey game, wine, cider, one week winter CSA shares from Sweet Land Farm and Full Plate Farm Collective, a gift basket from Life’s So Sweet, and a one-night stay at the Inn at Taughannock, and much more. Tickets may be purchased prior to WinterFest at Trumansburg ShurSave, Ulysses Philomathic Library in Trumansburg, Sundrees, Felicia’s HiVE 45 and Good to Go! Trumansburg Market.
Capping off the evening, at 7 p.m., people are invited to come to the Ulysses Philomathic Library for refreshments and a reading of Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner by the fireplace.
