On November 11th, in celebration of America Recycles Day, Tompkins County Recycling and Materials Management and Finger Lakes ReUse partnered to create a pilot Donation Drop Spot in Dryden.
Finger Lakes ReUse brought two trucks to the food scraps recycling drop spot at the Dryden Town Highway Department to accept donations of reusable items. Nearly 50 people stopped by to drop off materials, with some making multiple trips! Small electronics and household applicances were among the most common items, as well as furniture, clothing, books and small housewares.
Our two organizations would like to thank the Dryden Town Highway Department and Superintendent Rick Young for providing the space and contributing to the event’s success. We are hoping to offer similar donation drop spots around Tompkins County in the future.
