Downtown Ithaca offering free parking for the holidays

Tompkins Weekly Staff

Downtown Ithaca is trying to make the last push of holiday shopping easier, offering one hour of free parking through December 22.
The deal is valid at the Seneca and Green street parking garages.

People who make at least one purchase at any of downtown Ithaca’s participating shops and boutiques will receive a complimentary parking ticket good for one-hour of free parking. The one hour of free parking ticket may be used at the Seneca and Green Street garages, both located near The Ithaca Commons and downtown’s other shopper areas, including The Dewitt Mall and Press Bay Alley.

For those who have prepaid for their parking, they can use this special parking discount during another downtown visit either on or before December 22. After that date, however, the ticket will no longer be valid.

To redeem the free one-hour ticket, simply drive up to the garage exit pay station and insert the ticket into the pay machine. Once the discount is applied to the parking fee, people are responsible to pay for any remaining parking fees. To pay the remaining balance, you’ll have to use a credit or debit card in the exit pay machine. These garage’s exit pay machines DO NOT accept cash.

Parking is always free in the evenings after 8 p.m. and free all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
