Get Information...on the goals and potential benefits of NYSEG’s Energy Smart Community pilot project.

In 2016, New York State’s ‘Reforming Energy Vision’ established ambitious goals for our state’s electrical system to produce less greenhouse gasses, become more energy efficient, and use 50% renewable energy by 2030. The Energy Smart Community is a NYSEG pilot project to test technologies that may help get us there. 12,000 homes and businesses in Tompkins County were the first to receive smart meters and access to innovative tools to increase energy efficiency for customers and the electrical grid. Because energy efficiency is an important goal of the Energy Smart Community, and it aligns with Tompkins County’s Energy Roadmap, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County is facilitating community engagement to help maximize the potential of the ESC to help further our County goals.

Share...your thoughts, ideas, and feedback on the Energy Smart Community and other local energy related projects and issues.

These events occur monthly on the 4th Thursday of the month. The event is free! Light snacks provided. RSVP required. Childcare provided upon request.
