The Enough Abuse Campaign is a national program offering educational information to parents, professionals, and other concerned adults to prevent people from victimizing children and youth today and to prevent children from developing abusive behaviors in the future. Enough Abuse Tompkins, a project of the Advocacy Center, is partnering with the Coalition for Families to present four training modules on these topics.
The Social Conditions of Child Sexual Abuse module module addresses an important component of the public health strategy by challenging participants to understand child sexual abuse as a social issue rather than an individual problem. This program involves an activity and discussion for participants to actively reflect on the ways that our society supports child sexual abusers and silences children, and then brainstorms with participants concrete action steps they can take to break the social condition of secrecy in their homes and communities.
