Recently on ESPN Ithaca’s Between the Lines, host Tim Donnelly spoke with Ithaca High School softball player Jessica Plue. Plue and her teammates have already secured the most wins for Ithaca since the 2002 season. Here is a snippet of that conversation; to hear the full interview, visit ESPN Ithaca’s on-demand PodCenter at ESPNIthaca.com.

Tim Donnelly: You recently helped your team to a pair of wins at the Mary Testa Tournament at Union-Endicott, you beat Newark Valley and Seton Catholic. When you think back on that tournament, what did you have going for yourselves that allowed you to pick up a couple wins?
Jessica Plue: I think we came in really focused and we knew these were two games we really wanted to win. We were really focused, really dialed in, really ready for the game and I feel like that is kind of what put us on top. We were able to make the plays and do what we practice all the time and I feel like it showed.

TD: Now, you went a combined 3 for 6 at the plate with 2 RBIs, but I want to talk about the home run. How did it feel when you made contact with it and watched that bad boy sail over the fence?
JP: It obviously gives you a really good feeling and I feel like, as a hitter, you know when you make that good contact, it just, you feel it right away. We were down by one at that point. So, just knowing that I was able to produce for the team it really gives that good feeling that I feel like every hitter looks for.
