What caught my eye: CC done, Newfield downed

Posted

Newfield left empty-handed
Both the Newfield Boy’s and Girl’s Basketball teams battled with Moravia for IAC Small School Championships on Friday night and both fell to the Blue Devils in rematches from earlier in the season. The season, for Newfield, didn’t end with the losses as both teams are on to the Section IV Tournament. Finally, it’s the season of postseason high school basketball!

CC announces retirement
This past weekend, Yankees’ left-handed pitcher CC Sabathia held a press conference after a spring training session to announce that the 2019 season will be his 19th and final season in the major leagues. It’s impossible to overlook the impact that Sabathia has had on the Bronx Bombers since he arrived in 2009. The Yankees won their last World Series the year that CC arrived in the Bronx. Will we see Sabathia finish his pinstriped career the way he started it?

Battle with the Buckeyes
Cornell Wrestling is far from the same team that dropped a 19-16 heartbreaking dual at Lehigh back on Jan. 12. The Big Red have won nine straight duals and can make it 10 straight with a win over Ohio State on Friday. Being honest, I believed that the team that I saw in January would be easily handled by the Buckeyes. After watching the Big Red, for the most part, tear through opponents, the Buckeyes better watch out.
