You just had to say something…I woke up on Saturday morning, feeling a wide range of emotions, the most prevalent of which was excitement. It was Derby Day. I, along with millions, spend money, which certainly could be used for more productive ventures, betting on the Kentucky Derby. I was off and running from the first race of the day, winning small wagers, here and there, and a couple of wagers that made me the unfortunate payer of the bill at dinner. A joyful day all changed upon the finishing of the Derby. Having thought, like millions of Americans, that the result would be made official, I was celebrating my winnings, until they disqualified Maximum Security. I never thought I would see the day that the winning horse is disqualified for an in-race action, and I certainly hope I never see it again.
Gardner garnering golfing praiseKevin Gardner is on a mission to lead the Dryden Golf team to an unbeaten season. He’s well on his way to accomplishing that, as the team is 15-0 after last week’s win over Moravia. Gardner is on a roll, earning medalist honors in 13 of the 15 matches. He’s not alone either, as Brandon Madigan is also putting up the low scores as of late, as well. I’m not saying I’m bad at golf, but these kids, with the roll that they are on, would smoke me in a round, no matter how late into the season it is.
New Look LionsThe offseason is a time to start looking ahead to the next season, and while the Dryden Football team is looking for ways to replace seniors and for new and improved game plans, the team is also looking to turn heads with some new uniforms. The Lions held their spring meeting last week and capped it off with the unveiling of the new threads. With the design mixing in the purple and white with a metallic grey, the new uniforms have rocketed up my list of top uniforms in the area. Dryden will be sporting the metallic grey helmets, and that is definitely a cherry on top.
