What Caught My Eye: The highs and lows of local sports

Cornell wrestling blanks Harvard
We all know that Cornell Wrestling is good. I mean, 86 straight Ivy League dual victories prove that. On Saturday evening, the Big Red embarrassed Harvard 55-0 with what is shaping up to be an almost completed lineup. This type of showing not only proves that Cornell is still miles ahead of the rest of its Ivy League counterparts, but that Saturday’s dual with Lock Haven could create an instant classic.

Cornell men’s hockey takes a step back
After topping Colgate on Friday night, the Big Red were expected to continue to play well on their home ice. That did not happen as the team looked sluggish and unorganized. While watching the game I had flashbacks to the early portion of the season where the Big Red seemed out of their league.

Hard crash back to reality
Syracuse Basketball fans have been in a continued state of bliss since the Orange upset number one Duke. For the positive string of results that the Orange picked up, the victories didn’t seem to earn lucrative praise. The good fortune came to an end with a 78-56 loss to number 10 Virginia Tech, bringing the Orange and its fans back to reality.
