As the Trumansburg WinterFest Event Coordinator, I am pleased to invite the Tompkins County community to downtown Trumansburg on Dec. 7 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. to celebrate the 24th annual Trumansburg WinterFest. This cornerstone community event is a 100% free family event takes place in the heart of the village, with live entertainment, games, horse and carriage rides and more.

The 2019 festival will feature a performance by Hilby the Skinny German Juggling Boy at 4:15 p.m. and roaming magician Mike Stanley. New this year will be Hula Hut Polynesian Dance performing holiday Polynesian dance at 5 p.m. Back by popular demand is the Fall Creek Brass Band at 5:30 p.m., who will be playing holiday tunes in addition to fan favorites, along with ushering in Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will arrive by fire truck to light the village tree.

Look forward to a special appearance from Buddy the Elf, the official festival emcee. In addition to the live entertainment, there will be free horse-drawn carriage rides and games provided by the Trumansburg High School group Femtastic. Adjacent to the holiday tree, WinterFest will also feature a holiday-themed sculpture created and installed by the Trumansburg High School AP Studio Art class.

The prize raffle returns again this year, with gift cards from around the village to be raffled off. Tickets will be available beginning Nov. 23 and throughout the festival at the Trumansburg ShurSave, the Ulysses Philomathic Library and Sundrees. There will also be sales during the festival outside the Napa building. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

There will be original arts and crafts and other handmade items, personal care products, Christmas trees and wreaths and more.

The Trust Company will be open as well and will be home to some vendors and informational tables. The Elementary PTO will be taking orders for gift cards, both to national chain stores and local stores and restaurants. Check out the games, run by the school group Femtastic, located near the Children’s Village. The after-school program will have decorated the Friendship Tree at the Trumansburg ShurSave with ornaments crafted by the children, using the tree to promote our local food pantry, along with a display of gingerbread houses displayed at Word of Mouth Catering.

The Trumansburg Rotary will once again be providing free hot soup, which is made possible by generous donations from Sweet Land Farm and Full Plate Farm Collective, which rounds out making this a completely free and accessible event.
