TCAT’s winter/spring service starts Jan. 12

Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) winter-spring schedules are in effect Jan. 12 through May 24.

Most service is unchanged from the fall, but TCAT planners adjusted some routes to meet ridership demand, fulfill riders’ requests, and to improve on-time performance. 

To prepare for the changeover, TCAT urges riders to review any changes to their routes (see below) and/or the 57-page TCAT’s Winter-Spring 2025 Schedules and Service Guide that offers more in-depth rider information, available here: tcatbus.com/ride/current-ride-guide.

No changes to the following routes: 10, 13, 14S; 15; 30; 32; 36; 52; 77; 82; and 92.

Routes with changes are:

Route 11 (Ithaca College/Commons) Mon.-Sun.: Added two Saturday night trips to and from downtown and Ithaca College; outbound trip from Green St. Station is at 10:15 p.m. and Aurora@ Commons is at 1:15 a.m. Inbound trips to downtown starting from College Circle Apartments are 10:27 p.m. and 1:28 a.m. (Last outbound bus back to IC remains the same starting from Green St. Station at 1:57 a.m.; last inbound from IC to downtown is the same at 2:12 a.m.)

Route 14 (West Hill/Commons) Mon.-Sun.: On weekdays only, eliminated the one-way 10:12 a.m. from downtown to State @ Fulton.

Route 17 (TCAT/Fall Creek/Commons) Mon.-Sun.: Numerous timing changes to coincide with adjusted routes.

Route 20 (Enfield/Commons) Mon.-Sat.: Second weekday trip leaves 3 minutes earlier; outbound starts from Green St. Station at 10:07 a.m., and inbound starts from Enfield Highway Department at 10:32 a.m.

Route 21 (Trumansburg/Jacksonville/Commons) Mon.-Sun: Third weekday trip departs 7 minutes earlier; outbound starts from Seneca St. Station at 10:10 a.m., and inbound starts from Compass Manufactured Home Community at 10:43 a.m.

Route 31 (Winston Court/ Etna/Cornell) Mon.-Fri.: Timing changes throughout schedule with buses leaving between 2 and 10 minutes earlier, so it’s extra important to review schedule in advance. (For weekend service, see route 77.)

Route 37 (Lansing Town Hall/ Cornell/Commons) Mon.-Fri.: Second outbound trip from Green St. Station departs 2 minutes earlier at 11:21 a.m.

Route 40 (Groton/Cornell/Commons) Mon.-Sun: Second weekday inbound trip starting from Groton Speedway will leave 2 minutes later at 9:22 a.m., with trip ending 10:04 a.m. at Seneca St. Station. (Will not continue to Green St. Station.)

Route 43 (Groton/Freeville/Dryden/Cornell/Commons) Mon.-Sun.: Two weekday inbound trips start 2 minutes later; start times are 1:07 p.m. from Groton Speedway and 3:55 p.m. from TC3.

Route 51 (Eastern Heights/Cornell/ Commons) Mon.-Sun.: With the exception of the first three and the last two trips, planners changed the timing on several trips so it’s extra important to review schedule in advance.

Route 65 (Danby/Commons) Mon.-Fri.: Based on rider feedback, planners added a morning trip to get commuters to downtown hubs earlier. The inbound starting from Hillview Terrace Mobile Home Park in Danby at 8:18 a.m., and outbound starting from Green St. Station at 7:50 a.m. The second trip departs 5 minutes later.

Route 67 (Newfield/ Cornell/Commons) Mon.-Sun.: Third afternoon outbound trip leaves 5 minutes earlier at 2:12 p.m. from Seneca St. Station and inbound at 2:35 p.m. from Newfield Central Schools. Last Saturday outbound trip departs 3 minutes later at 7:05 p.m. and from Seneca St. Station instead of Green St. Station. The last inbound trip leaves three minutes later from Newfield Central Schools at 7:28 p.m.

Route 81 (Cornell Campus)  Mon.-Fri.: Service is unchanged but riders should be aware that, effective Mon., Jan. 13,TCAT will serve only one stop on A-Lot at a new shelter Cornell recently built in the middle of the parking lot.  For now, in addition to the new centrally located shelter, drivers will continue to serve the soon-to-be-dismantled lower-lot shelter, but only through the end of service day, Fri., Jan. 10.

Route 90 (Cornell Night Service/Commons) Mon.-Sat.:  Eliminated both the Saturday 10:15 p.m. northbound trip starting from Green St. Station and the 10:27 p.m. southbound trip starting from Robert Purcell Community Center/ Jessup Road.
