Letter: Support for the Dryden Solar Farm
I support the new solar farm proposed for Dryden. For years, there hasn’t been a day when I didn’t think about, read about or talk about global warming. For me it is the biggest problem of our time. I’ve tried not to be alarmist but the news of how quickly climate change is occurring is alarming.
Although, there are many people in our community who are working hard to stop the worst effects of climate change, the progress is slow. We have a small fraction of renewable energy available now, but no actual plan either at the state or local level to rapidly ramp up renewables.
When I heard that the new solar farm proposed in Dryden would provide power for 7,500 homes, I felt a rare ray of hope that we could transition to clean energy in time.
If we can’t start to build large scale solar installations in our county where many people understand the threat of climate change, how will we ever move fast enough to save our children and grandchildren from a world ravaged by global warming.
