The Gallery at South Hill, Daniel Rothenberg "The Alchemist's Press" exhibit. This one person exhibit features the work of Rochester, NY based artist Daniel Rothenberg who works with photography and printmaking to create one of a kind artworks called Kallitypes. The kallitype process, first invented in the late 1800s, is a historical photographic printing method that uses iron salts and silver nitrate to produce rich brown tones. By reimagining it through the press, I explore how photography and printmaking—two mediums rooted in replication—can be transformed into singular, non-repeatable works.
