TCPL to host listening session at GIAC as library prepares new strategic plan

TCPL strategic plan draft for 2026+ will be discussed at a community listening session Nov. 19 at GIAC. Share your input to help shape the library’s future.

Tompkins County Public Library invites you to weigh-in on a new strategic plan currently in development. A draft of the plan will be presented in a focus group discussion Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center, 301 W. Court Street, Ithaca. Refreshments will be provided.

New York State Education Law requires all public and association libraries to have a written long-range plan of service, based on community needs, and to make that plan easily accessible by the public through the library’s website. TCPL’s current plan expires at the end of 2025.

The draft of a plan for 2026 and beyond focuses on community engagement and partnerships, inclusivity and accessibility, safety and welcoming spaces, and joy in learning and innovation.

Participants in the focus group, as well as an online survey, will be empowered to help influence change, connect, collaborate and be heard.

The Community Relations and Outreach Committee, which is drafting the plan, hopes to present a final version to the Board of Trustees for approval in early 2026.
