On Music Sunday December 14, First Congregational Church's Senior Choir will sing Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” during the 10:00 am worship serrvice.
“Ceremony of Carols” is a suite of ten medieval Christmas songs set in a contemporary idiom. Britten composed it in 1942 for choir accompanied by a solo harp. Myra Kovary, Ithaca’s foremost harpist, will join us in our performance.
Benjamin Britten dominated England’s musical landscape in the mid-1900s, and “Ceremony of Carols” has long stood as one of his masterpieces.
