Letter to the Editor: Tracy Mitrano knows cybersecurity
To the Editor:
At a time when Russian interference in our elections threatens the very basis of our Democratic institutions — even more so in 2020 than in 2016 — Congress needs the proven expertise and depth of experience of Tracy Mitrano, a national and international leader in cybersecurity. Her opponent, Tom Reed, shares the Trump administration notion that continuing Russian hacking and disinformation are not a problem at all.
I knew Tracy Mitrano as a colleague when she was the Director of IT Policy at Cornell University. There she cemented her reputation in higher education privacy issues. Her credentials — a doctorate in American history from Binghamton University and a law degree from Cornell — make Tracy Mitrano, Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives in New York’s 23rd District, the leader we need in the fight to save our elections from foreign interference.
