Australian didgeridoo show coming to town

Coming to Newfield Public Library on Friday, Aug 4 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Didgeridoo Down Under will be giving a performance outside behind the library. Didgeridoo Down Under travels the world to give an educating but also entertaining performance for people of all ages.

A Didgeridoo is a tubular musical instrument played for at least 1,500 years by aboriginal peoples of Australia. Traditional Didgeridoos are made from eucalyptus tree trunks but can be made from other woods and fiberglass. Didgeridoo Down Under uses conventional and non-traditional language to teach about aboriginal people of Australia but also basic fundamentals such as kindness, love, anti-bullying and more.
Darren Liebman, Didgeridoo Down Under founder and performer for the organization, said that his inspiration to perform with the Didgeridoo came from his time visiting Australia.
“One of my trips there I bought a Didgeridoo and just connected with it physically, mentally, spiritually.” Liebman said, “I just started sharing my passion for it wherever I could.”
Didgeridoo Down Under travels to schools, libraries and other public places to provide entertaining and educationally fulfilling performances that caters to all audiences.
Their programs include Australia-themed shows, concerts, workshops and K-12 programs with music, science, character building, environmentalism, and audience participation.

Didgeridoo Down Under’s main and most important focus is to teach basic fundamentals of human kindness, love, and more through the performances they give.
“We use the Didgeridoo, comedy, and theatrics, really whatever we can.” Liebman said. “Besides educating them whether it be about aboriginal culture, geography, history, vocabulary, really the most important thing is delivering messages about kindness , accepting, respect, anti-bullying, protecting the planet.”
Liebman explained that his show is not only for children but is good for people of all ages.
“The program has something for everyone.” Liebman We find that all ages enjoy our programs, even teens.”
