Letter to the editor: Bypass the ‘theatrics,’ keep the climate in mind this November
To the Editor:
Appreciation is in order to Rep. Marc Molinaro for having the courage to call out a Republican colleague for her “theatrics” that are preventing Congress from “solving the problems that face America.” As quoted by The Hill (4/18/24, “GOP Rep: Greene ‘theater’ has to come to an end”), our NY19 Representative went on to say, “We have a bipartisan government, and the only way good policy is going to be made better…is to do it in a bipartisan way.”
Rep. Molinaro has demonstrated bipartisanship regarding the overarching issue of climate change. He’s a member of the House Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus and has cosponsored a bill with six other Republicans that would use revenues from offshore wind projects to help coastal states protect and restore affected land areas.
With Earth Day just passed and a November election coming I urge all potential voters to keep the issue of climate change in mind to press candidates on how they will work with colleagues across the aisle to pass climate legislation that meets science-based criteria for reducing emissions enough to avert the worst of global warming, no matter which political party is in control.
