Cayuga Heights, Dryden, Groton village elections coming up
Tompkins Weekly Staff
In just 8 days, voters in the villages of Cayuga Heights, Dryden and Groton will head to the polls to choose among the candidates vying for mayor and trustee positions.
Polls are open from noon to 9 p.m. in all three municipalities on Tuesday, March 21.
All seats on the ballot in Cayuga Heights are unopposed; all candidates are running on the New Heights ballot line.
Linda Woodard is running for a one-year term to fill a vacancy at mayor. Jennifer Biloski, Richard Robinson and Peter Salton are running for three two-year trustee terms; Meloney McMurry is running for a one-year trustee term to fill a vacancy. All of the candidates are currently serving on the village board in the respective positions for which they are running.
On the flipside, Groton has contested races for all three posts up for election. Incumbent Christopher Neville is running for mayor on the Republican ballot line, opposed by Faith Tyler on the Democratic line. For two two-year trustee seats, incumbents Elizabeth Conger and Michael Holl are listed on the Republican line and being challenged by David Dematteo and Jeffrey Toolan, who are listed on the Democratic line.
And Dryden offers a contested race and an unopposed one – in fact, its unopposed incumbent mayor, Reba Taylor, is listed on both the Democratic and Republican lines for the two-year term of office. There are three people running for two two-year trustee seats: Michael Murphy, an incumbent trustee, and Thomas Sinclair are listed on the Democratic and Protecting Dryden ballot lines, while Christen Gibbons is running on the Republican line.
