Acclaimed circus troupe Cirque Us is performing its newest show Stories on Sept. 20 and 21, as part of The Cherry Arts’ 10th Anniversary Season Kidshowz Series. Tickets and additional information are available now at thecherry.org.

Cirque Us: Stories is a gorgeous, curated show that flips through the pages of the troupe’s favorite stories to create a touching, thrilling narrative about community and identity. Interweaving a collection of folktales, classic literature, children’s stories, modern fiction and more, this show jumps off the page with twists, flips, rewrites and retellings of the stories we love. The show features aerialists, jugglers, acrobats, contortionists, clowns and more, all ready to fly off the shelf and straight to audiences.

Celebrating 10 years of innovative art in Ithaca, The Cherry Arts is bringing together their explorations of circus-theater and theater for young audiences by hosting the acclaimed troupe Cirque Us. Stories is the fall event in their brand new Kidshowz Series, featuring more circus-theater performances for families this spring.

As part of their mission to spread circus magic to all, Cirque Us shares that this new show is being developed specifically with community in mind. Alongside their regular performance venues, they have partnered with a set of schools, libraries and community centers to bring the circus directly to the people.

Since their first production in 2016, Cirque Us has expanded to produce and tour original, full-length works year after year, alongside educational experiences such as camps, workshops and other events for people of all ages and abilities. The DailyUV.com calls this troupe “the perfect blend of sophistication and fun,” and “non-stop action that keeps you guessing as to what is to come next.”

The 2025 troupe of Stories includes Mariah Fraker, Joy Powers, Aaron DeWitt, Ava Kapelczak, Paxton Hummer, Esther Van De Lagemaat and Tyler Jacobson. They come from across the United States and have a collective resume which includes Ringling Brothers, Cirque Dreams,  Flynn Creek Circus, Pippin National Tour, Santa’s Circus, All Wheel Sports, Westchester Circus Arts, GOP Variete, Machine de Cirque and more!
Cirque Us: Stories opens in Ithaca at The Cherry Artspace on Sept. 20 and runs through Sept. 21. Tickets are on sale now at thecherry.org.
