Community invited to participate in design of East Hill Village

A series of public information sessions have been scheduled in the coming weeks to allow the community to continue the conversation about the redevelopment of the East Hill Plaza in Ithaca. Last year’s public meeting on May 17 brought in over 100 community members who came to learn about the process and have a chance to give their opinions about the area and potential redevelopment. Since then the development team has been studying the site and taking into consideration the public comments shared in May.
According to a press release from Scott Whitham from Whitham Planning and Design, the team is ready to come back to the community for a series of public sessions.
“The project team is delighted to recommence with a week-long design charrette and invites participation during public meetings and a design Open House,” said the release.
All events will take place at The Space at Greenstar at 700 West Buffalo St. The schedule is as follows:
• Monday, April 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.: This Public Meeting will provide an update based on the May meeting and will seek public input to establish design objectives for the project.
• Wednesday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.: Studio Open House for the public to observe the work in progress and discuss ideas with members of the design team.
• Thursday, April 12, from 6 to 8 p.m.: The Charrette Conclusion will include a presentation and summary of alternatives for the site created during the charrette, with an interactive discussion of the merits of each.
