East Hill Notes: Snapshot
By Gary Stewart
Cornell Community Relations and colleagues annually pull data with local economic impact components from the University’s most recent fiscal year.
In the past, staff and consultants compiled a larger economic impact report that could run more than 100 pages. The downside was by the time data were gathered and published, they often didn’t reflect current realities at time of release.
This simple economic impact snapshot provides community members with nuts-and-bolts facts on key fronts, from basics like the number of students, staff and faculty on the Ithaca campus, to property taxes paid, and Cornell’s United Way campaign.
It’s an interesting exercise with the emphasis on local.
