Farmers Market returns with more vendors than ever

The Trumansburg Farmers Market has made a strong entrance this season, with its organizers calling it the biggest year ever for the market.
The weekly community event continues to expand, with additional vendors and programming for visitors.

“We’re growing,” said Market Manager Natalie Baris in a statement. Baris has managed the market since 2019 and sees how important local support has been to the growth of the Trumansburg market.
“What’s really remarkable about the market is the community support,” said Baris. “We have a very active board, we have a very active DPW and we have a very active mayor. These people just want this market to thrive, and they put in time and effort into it, which is wonderful because that doesn’t typically happen in a lot of communities.”
The market is slated to have three dozen vendors this year, with new vendors including The Grasshopper, Keily’s Cooking, Easy Living Hats, Mojo’s Hot Sauce and more.
“We have a packed season ahead, with more vendors than ever and additional programming beyond our weekly music and Story Time provided by the Ulysses Philomathic Library,” said Debbie Biltonen, chair of the market’s board.
Music performances through June will include Good Bones, Three Stone Fire, Richie Stearns & Rosie Newton, Tim Ball & Friends and Venissa Santi. Additional performers are scheduled to play at the market through the season, including TOiVO and The Contradictions.
The market is hosted every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Village Park on Route 96 through October.
The market’s summer programming has expanded after a successful winter season, which ran from February to April and was held at the village Fire Department. The winter market, implemented by Baris, was a direct result of demand from customers who wanted a market to attend in the colder months.
Programming for this season includes Yoga with Sean Roulan, a robotics demonstration and a Spamalot preview. Additional programming dates are to be determined.
Because we have a very active programming sector of the board, we’re integrating educational things which are pretty cool, and that’s new,” said Baris, who was recognized as the 2023 Trumansburg Area Chamber of Commerce’s Person of the Year in March. “There is an opportunity for the market to play a larger role in the community.”
Baris is also the proprietor of a new farmers market, Sampson Farmers Market, launched in 2022 at Sampson State Park.
“Trumansburg is growing, and we’re growing with it,” said Baris.
