One of the best parts of fall is visiting a local farm or orchard and picking your own fresh seasonal produce, including delicious crunchy apples. There are numerous family-friendly places throughout Ithaca and the Finger Lakes that offer u-pick produce and, depending on the day, other fun events and activities. The following places are among the best places in the region for picking apples according to multiple sources, including Yelp and Fingerlakes.com.

U-Pick Apple Farms In and Around Ithaca

Indian Creek Farm

Indian Creek Farm sells a wide variety of fresh produce, including 60 different types of apples. You can pick your own produce, or purchase from the farm stand. In addition to produce, the farm also sells its own prepared dishes made from its own crops, including apple cider donuts and fresh-squeezed “Orchard Ambrosia,” a juice made from apples and pears. 

Location: 1408 Trumansburg Road, Ithaca

Hours: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily

Littletree Orchards

Littletree Orchards is a family-owned orchard founded in 1973. They grow over 20 varieties of apples, from classics like McIntosh and Golden Delicious to specialty and heirloom varieties, and practice low-spray, organic-focused farming with integrated pest management. Visitors can enjoy wagon rides, picnic spots, walking trails, a wildflower labyrinth, fresh cider donuts and more farm-fresh goodies in their Apple Barn. The 2025 season will not include u-pick apples, however, they will have pre-picked apples for sale in the barn. 

Location: 345 Shaffer Road, Newfield

Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 20-Oct. 12

Grisamore Cider Works

This farm has been run by the Grisamore family for five generations and continues to grow apples, which they use to make homemade cider. Grisamore also grows peaches, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, cherries, currants, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and flowers. The farm store, formerly a barn, sells lots of fresh produce, snacks, sweet treats, beverages, pantry products, kitchenware and other household items. The farm hosts tours, wagon rides and fun events, such as the upcoming Fall Festival.

Location: 4069 Goose St., Locke 

Hours: Grisamore’s hours vary by month and can be viewed on the website.

Prices: Apples cost $1.50 a pound

Apples and Moore

This farm, formerly known as Reisinger’s Apple Country, offers a variety of fresh crops and homemade delights. At Apples and Moore, you can pick your own raspberries and apples, of which there are over 20 different kinds and cut your own zinnias. You can also purchase jellies, jams, donuts, cider, applesauce, apple butter, plums, pears and more apples. The farm is also a popular place for school groups to visit.

U-Pick Apple Farms Worth a Drive

Owen Orchards

Owen Orchards grows several varieties of u-pick apples. You can walk through the farm at your own pace or take a wagon ride on the weekends. The farm also makes and sells its apple cider and candy and caramel apples. They offer tours for visitors and serve as a venue for field trips, birthday parties, class reunions, wedding receptions and other large gatherings.

Hours: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday

Apple Barrel Orchards

Harvest Season at Apple Barrel Orchards always offers lots to do. In addition to providing opportunities to pick and purchase your own apples, Apple Barrel Orchards also has its own cidery, sells its own homemade products like cider donuts and hosts fun and collaborative events featuring live music, food trucks and other special dining experiences that support other businesses. 

Location: 2673 Sand Hill Road, Penn Yan

Hours: 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday; closed Tuesday-Thursday; noon-7 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday

Prices: $1.30 per pound

Pick n’ Patch

Pick n’ Patch is an apple orchard and pumpkin patch known for its family-friendly events and attractions. Kids and their families can pick their own apples, buy pumpkins, corn and squash, and enjoy a variety of games, rides, mazes and other playground equipment on the same day. Pink n’ Patch hosts various fall festivals and other special events, and is a great place for school field trips. The farm also sells other snacks, sweet treats, beverages and more.

Location: 2205 Routes 5 and 20, Stanley

Hours: Hours vary depending on the event.

Prices: Admission prices start at $14.95 on weekdays and $16.95 on weekends for ages 3-73. Everyone else can visit for free. The 2025 Season Pass costs $46.95.

G and S Orchards

G and S Orchards, run by experienced farming duo Gary and Stephanie, grows high-quality apples, pumpkins, currants, cherries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, juneberries and gooseberries. G and S also works with multiple agricultural organizations, including the Cornell Cooperative Extension at Cornell University. 

Location: 825 Atlantic Ave., Route 286, Walworth

Hours: The farm stand is open 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily. Picking is available 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. 

Prices: Prices vary by product
