Letter to the editor: Former Ulysses supervisor endorses Olson
Former supervisor Nancy Zahler endorses Katelin Olson for Ulysses Town Supervisor, highlighting her experience, integrity, and dedication.

Dear editor,
As a former Town Board member and Supervisor in Ulysses, I know what the job of Town Supervisor entails and I fully support Supervisor Katelin Olson for re-election. Katelin has experience and expertise in planning, budgeting, and finding and administering infrastructure grants to mitigate climate change. Katelin works well with the Village of Trumansburg and other local governments and uses those trusted relationships to seek solutions to shared concerns. She understands complex issues, does her research to look for alternative solutions, and is open to the ideas and opinions of others. She was a leader and team player working with Trumansburg, Covert, and our state and local government officials to save Camp Barton. She has reached out to residents of the town and village to learn about their concerns, used technology to increase public access to Town meetings, and invited community input on the acquisition of land for a town park.
Katelin also cares deeply about fairness and civility. To assure that all town residents, staff, and program participants are treated fairly, Katelin successfully advocated for a policy of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion that requires respectful behavior from all those in Town government toward all those served by the town.
Katelin works well with Town Clerk Carissa Parlato and Highway Superintendent Scott Stewart and supports their efforts to provide high quality Town services. She has done a good job in balancing the Town’s budget to provide core services and keep taxes low while enabling seniors, young people, and low-income residents to get the support they need to thrive in our community. She also supports access to the arts, library services, and environmental quality for all.
I urge Ulysses voters to support Katelin Olson as a smart, experienced leader, with integrity who deserves re-election as Town Supervisor.
-Nancy Zahler, Ulysses
