Letter of support for Ben Carver and Ben Darfler

Serving on the Village Board for 17 years gives me a unique take on the qualifications of individuals who want to serve in that role. It is more important than ever that the Village Board needs to help facilitate community unity and mutual respect. Ben Carver and Ben Darfler strongly believe in this by reaching out to those with differing views and honestly investigating and considering their positions. To do this they need to put service to the village and our community before their personal agendas. Both agree that a discussion on a moratorium is important, but are opposed a moratorium that jeopardizes both the fiscal wellbeing of the village and its long-term planning goals.

Ben Darfler had demonstrated a strong record of Trumansburg public service: serves as a committee chair for Trumansburg Community Recreation is a member of the Village’s Zoning Revision Committee, and has actively increased public access to local government through videotaping and sharing village government events.
Ben Carver has served on the Village Board for four years and has done an outstanding job of working on the community youth programs (as Youth Commissioner) and emergency medical service (EMS Commissioner) that has gone through a major expansion. He also has served as liaison to the Town of Ulysses and Village representative on the Environmental Management Council.

We need to elect trustees that have demonstrated a commitment to working with all the village citizens and have made direct contributors to local government. For these reasons, I urge you to vote for Carver and Darfler.
