Letter to the editor – Congressman Marc Molinaro: All tricks, no treats

We all love Halloween here in Tompkins County, but nobody more than Congressman Marc Molinaro. With no accomplishments to cite except cashing his ample paycheck, the Congressman is trying to terrify his way into a second term.

A pack of lying ghouls, hysterical zombies and vicious vampires inhabit his social media and write his press releases. In Molinaroworld, legal emigrants  barbecue their neighbors’ pets, cities like Ithaca are experiencing a massive  crime wave and undocumented emigrants are buying up all the houses. What poppycock!

The reason is simple.  Molinaro is part of a congressional majority that has done nothing. Cravenly bowing to Donald Trump, it refused to consider a border bill mainly written by Republicans.  Instead, Molinaro cast one outrageous vote after another. He voted to deny servicewomen access to  health care, to defund local and national policing agencies and against clean water  bills. His idea of constituent service is driving around the district, posting pictures of himself drinking coffee  or cheering on the Mets.

I plan to cast my vote for Josh Riley,  a son of the Southern Tier who has no need to lie his way into Congress.   A smart working class kid from Endicott, Riley studied hard and went to William and Mary and Harvard Law. After a few years working in Washington, he returned home to pursue public service.  He is a friend of labor,  staunch supporter of women’s rights and a man who always embodies  integrity and honesty.  And while he likes Halloween, Riley offers voters treats, not a bag of vile tricks.
