Letter to the Editor: Tracy Mitrano for 23rd Congressional District

I’m voting for Tracy Mitrano. Tom Reed represents the GOP and Donald Trump, characterized by many as failures of leadership, especially in response to COVID-19. Too much seems to be out of control. Mr. Reed’s response by the Problem Solvers Caucus was not sufficient as stimulus funding legislation.

Incredible human challenges face us now. Both the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times now predict a recession underway – devastating. As a nonagenarian survivor of recessions and the 1930s Depression, I know what that means.

Realistic action by government is required now. The GOP Senate is focused only on a Supreme Court addition – no action until Oct. 19. Frankly, the GOP is built on promises of Trump, of which he’s made almost 300. There is no platform. Nicholas Kristof, NY Times, checked 20 major ones on Sept. 6. Trump said, “Unlike many who came before me, I keep my promises.” Analysis proves “no.”

Last night, 60 Minutes proved realities of climate change. Trump says, “Things will get cooler.” The GOP is wrong for us. I’ll not even review GOP efforts to end social security, healthcare for millions or other safety net attacks.

Facts demand that Reed go. We need responsible, representative government. Vote for Tracy Mitrano.
