Electrical Workers Union Endorses Mike Sigler for Re-Election to Tompkins County Legislature 

Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler has been endorsed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Union No. 241 as he runs for re-election this fall. Sigler is running in County Legislative District 8, which covers most of the Town of Lansing.

In an official letter of endorsement, IBEW Local 241 Business Manager Todd Bruer wrote, “Mike has earned the support of the IBEW Local 241 through his proven record of standing up for the hard-working men and women who live and work in Tompkins County. Mike has been on the front lines with his local labor community throughout the years.”

Bruer added, “I have been with Mike when he fought to protect all of the local jobs at Milliken Power Station, when he stood strong for the Ithaca police and firefighters and the City of Ithaca Workers when they were being treated unfairly by the former City Administration, and on the picket line with the UAW members when they were on strike at Cornell University.”

Sigler has earned widespread support from organized labor, having also won endorsements from the Tompkins County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (TCDSA) and Tompkins County Corrections Officers Association (TCCOA).

“I’ve been a proud advocate and supporter for organized labor for decades,” Sigler said. “It’s an honor to once again earn endorsements from these hardworking men and women who make our economy and community strong.”

Sigler, 55, lives in the district with his wife, Sarah; they have four daughters. He has served as a Tompkins County Legislator for 15 years.

The 2025 general election is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4. Early voting will take place from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2. Absentee ballot voting will also be available.
