News brief: New Executive Director of Advocacy Center

The Board of Directors of the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County today announced that Jennifer Brownell has been appointed Executive Director. Currently, Brownell serves as Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes (CACFL). Her official appointment will begin May 30, 2023. Brownell was selected following a competitive and national search with involvement and feedback from Advocacy Center Staff.
Jennifer comes with over 25 years of non-profit experience and has served in a leadership role for the past 15 years. She brings unique experience as an Executive Director of the Partnership for Ontario County, before then choosing to lead the Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes (CACFL) when the program became its own 501(c) (3) agency. Jennifer assisted in the growth of the CACFL from a $120,000 budget to a roughly $1 million budget and has been writing grants for more than 20 years.
“Jennifer brings a unique and impressive portfolio of experiences
to the Advocacy Center,” said Advocacy Center board president, Terri Brace. “The Board of Directors is looking forward to collaborating with her and are eager to see her positive impact.”
