Opinion: Take a stand – the choice is clear
Much has happened in the past few weeks. Former and hopefully future President Trump narrowly survived an assassination attempt. It has become clear that Trump’s security detail was deliberately sabotaged, with the path made clear for the assassin to attempt to take his life. The fact that Trump survived was nothing short of a miracle.

Joe Biden will no longer be seeking reelection, something I and many others predicted long ago. Biden’s performance at the debate served as an “Emperor Has No Clothes” moment for the half of the country that was in denial about his mental decline.
The same media that insisted Biden was fine for three and a half years, suffering only from a “stutter,” is now loudly proclaiming Kamala Harris the future of democracy. The press is also busy cleansing Kamala’s record of failure, retroactively expunging her role as Border Czar, where she oversaw the greatest human trafficking crisis in modern history.
Kamala is known for her excruciating personality, nervous laughter, and abysmal record as a prosecutor, Senator, and Vice President. Her presumptive selection as the nominee reads like an act of desperation on the part of the Democratic party machine. It would not be a surprise if she is herself usurped for an alternative at the August 7th Democratic convention.
It is also probable that Kamala’s campaign is designed to shore up Democrat morale and turnout, with the goal of minimizing the effects of the presidential election on down-ballot races. Regardless of the rationale for her selection, it is vitally important to not underestimate her campaign’s potential, which counts among its allies the media, billionaire power brokers, and the DC swamp.
The Democratic party and media have, for eight years, accused Trump of threatening the institution of democracy itself. They have, in turn, schemed to coronate Kamala as presidential nominee in a completely undemocratic process, conducted out of public view. No primary, no voting; far more blatant than what was done to rob Bernie Sanders of the nomination in 2016 and 2020.
This drama playing out on the national stage serves as a useful distraction for races closer to home. New York’s 19th Congressional district, represented by Republican Marc Molinaro, is on the Democratic party’s list of seats being targeted for retaking control of the House of Representatives. Republican Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler is running to represent Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins counties in the 52nd State Senate district. With less than a hundred days until the election, it is vitally important for Republicans everywhere to resist the temptation to be complacent. Reach out to your friends and family and make a plan to vote.
The stakes could not be higher. This election is about more than just political power; it is about the future direction of the country. The Democrats have shown they are willing to go to any lengths to maintain their grip on power. From flooding the country with millions of illegal immigrants to manipulating the public using false narratives, their tactics are a clear threat to the republic.
Republicans must stand firm against these threats. The Republican Party needs to unite and rally around our candidates. We need to ensure that our message of freedom, prosperity, and security reaches every voter.
Local government is where many critical decisions are made that affect our daily lives. By supporting candidates like Marc Molinaro and Mike Sigler, we can ensure that Republican values are represented at every level of government.
This is not just about one election, it is about setting the stage for the future. It is about ensuring that future generations inherit a country that values freedom, respects the rule of law, and continues the American way of life
Do not let the noise and distractions of the national stage deter you from what is important. Get involved, stay informed, and most importantly, make sure you and your loved ones are ready to vote. Every vote will count. Reach out to independents, disaffected liberals; anyone who sees this situation for what it is. The Democratic party is no longer democratic. The Republican party is the big tent, and we welcome political refugees.
This coming election will be a turning point for the country. The choice is clear. America can either continue down the path of violence, corruption and war that the Democrats have laid out, or we can take a stand and fight for a brighter future for everyone. The survival of our republic depends on it. Let us come together, reach across the aisle, and ensure victory in November.
