Richard Schoch honored with 2024 Fischer Award on June 11 in Ithaca.
Richard Schoch has received the 22nd annual Richard B. Fischer Environmental
Conservation Award for 2024.
The award was established in 2003 by the Town of Ithaca Conservation Board to honor Dr.
Fischer for his significant efforts to preserve important environmental resources in the
town.
Members of the Conservation Board will present the award to Schoch at a tree planting
ceremony June 11 at 5 p.m. at the Town of Ithaca’s Culver Road Preserve.
Schoch is being honored for his more than thirty-six years of dedicated service to the Town
of Ithaca’s Parks Department, where he helped design, develop, and maintain our parks, preserves and trails with imagination, intelligence, and persistent attention.
We’re especially grateful for his work managing invasive species, planting native trees and
shrubs, and directing the improvement of natural areas for public enjoyment,” stated a press release from the town of Ithaca.
