Building and Construction Trades Council endorses Sigler

Sigler endorsement grows as the Building & Construction Trades Council backs his re-election bid in Tompkins County’s District 8.

A major local labor union is backing Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler for re-election. Recently it was announced that the Tompkins-Cortland Building & Construction Trades Council has endorsed Sigler as he runs for re-election this fall in District 8, which covers most of the Town of Lansing.

In an official letter of endorsement, Tompkins-Cortland Building & Constructions Trades Council President Todd Bruer wrote, “I believe Mike’s extensive knowledge, experience, leadership and proven passion will make him well prepared to meet the many challenges of our local community.”

Bruer added, “Mike serves with a real voice off reason and stands strongly for his beliefs through his involvement and actions throughout Tompkins County and will always stand up for his neighbors and residents….”

“I’m honored to have the support of the hardworking men and women of the Building & Construction Trades Council. We’ve worked together collaboratively on countless projects and I’ve seen how their workers’ passion and commitment have helped Tompkins County grow and thrive.”

Sigler has earned widespread support from organized labor, having also won endorsements from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #241, Tompkins County Deputy Sheriff’s Association (TCDSA) and Tompkins County Corrections Officers Association (TCCOA).

Sigler, 55, lives in the district with his wife, Sarah; they have four daughters. He has served as a Tompkins County Legislator for 15 years.

The 2025 General Election is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4. Early Voting will take place from October 25 to November 2. Absentee Ballot voting will also be available.
