What Caught My Eye: Bronx Bruises and Tiger on top

Seriously? Again?
At this point, baseball season has been more of a headache than a blessing, as the Yankees just can’t seem to get it together. Look, I know that the lineup isn’t healthy, but shouldn’t you prepare for times like this? You should have a conditioning regiment that prevents injuries. That regiment is not working. No matter what they try to do, the Yankees just can’t catch a break. The games are becoming hard to watch, because of the poor performances and the lack of the names that people tune in to see. You can’t rush the injured players back, but for the sake of good baseball, I hope they have a speedy recovery.

Football is back…and it’s gone
Spring means Spring Football games, the chance for new enrollees to make a first impression and for returners to knock some dust off. We got a glimpse of the future of Syracuse Football without Eric Dungey at quarterback on Saturday and things look promising for the Orange. Tommy DeVito gave us a few moments of hope when he stepped in for Dungey during this past season, and after his lackluster first drive on Saturday, he settled into that same form from before. The quarterback situation is all but solved, but the defensive side of the ball left me wanting just a bit more.

The hero we all needed
Whether you were following along with ESPN Ithaca’s coverage, the television broadcast, or the live stats, you have to admit, you got excited when you saw Tiger Woods’ name start creeping up the leaderboard at the Masters. I was captivated all weekend, checking my phone every moment I was away from the TV, wanting to see what Tiger was doing. I can’t remember a time that a Sunday at the Masters felt so exhilarating. The feeling of watching Tiger’s final round numbers drop with each hole, on the back nine, was a feeling I didn’t know golf and the entire sports world needed until it was happening. How great is it to say, Tiger’s back!
