Plastic People is an award-winning documentary about the global spread of microplastics—and how they’re showing up in our water, food, air, and even our bodies. The film follows science journalist Ziya Tong as she investigates the health risks and the systems driving plastic pollution. Hosted by Zero Waste Ithaca as part of Plastic Free July, this screening highlights not just the global science, but the local stakes: from threats to Cayuga Lake, to frontline communities near petrochemical plants, to community-driven zero waste solutions that actually work.
